I always struggle with November. It is gray, cold and rainy and the days keep getting shorter and shorter.
This week in particular has made me wish Christmas would hurry up and get here – if only for the colour the whirlwind of the season will bring. It’s not that my life isn’t a whirlwind in itself right now, but the drab grayness and the darkness are starting to get to me.
It was more hectic than usual this week with a lot of 5 am mornings and late nights so that I often found myself leaving home in the dark and getting back, you guessed it, in the dark. That does wonders for the psyche. And my motivation levels.
Today, after another long gray day of rain, I’m sitting at home immersed in William Wood-Write admin, thinking longingly of a southern vacation, a short shopping getaway or even just a day without a lengthy to-do list. None of that is likely to be anytime soon, but at least I’ve got coffee brewing and cookies in the oven. Thank goodness for caffeine and sugar! And I’m better off than some – I saw some poor souls working outside in the rain harvesting cabbages earlier today…at least I’m indoors where it’s warm. And November is already half over.
Ok, contemplative moment over. Back to work – and the cookies!
